SUE HARRIS, once a classically-trained oboist, took up hammered dulcimer in 1975, and played in the early line-ups of Ashley Hutchings's ALBION COUNTRY BAND: she was one of the key musicians on Free Reed?s classic LP 'PLAIN CAPERS', (now on CD as FRRR 01) and has played with Richard and Linda Thompson, and John Kirkpatrick.
Her tasteful and eclectic selection of tunes and songs on "HAMMERS & TONGUES" enhanced by Plain Capers veterans Martin Brinsford & John K, and melodeon maestro Tufty Swift, created a revival classic.

TUFTY SWIFT, a pillar of Derbyshire's folk music community, collected dance tunes & songs from Derbyshire source musicians, and popularised the dance tunes of the Yorkshire Dales; He set up the first folk club in Belper, Derbyshire, and formed the influential country music band UMPS AND DUMPS with John K. Both he and Sue Harris guest on "....BAKEWELL TART? - a delightful LP of rare and tasty music.
