Visions of the Daughters of Albion

FRCD 55

This product is included in: Burning Bright

Throughout his career, Ashley has worked with the finest female voices of folk and folk rock.

They are all included here; from early days with Judy Dyble and Sandy Denny ; Steeleye originals Gay Woods and Maddy Prior ; major collaborator Shirley Collins ; and stage star Julie Covington .   Major revival ladies too ? June Tabor, Cathy Lesurf, Polly Bolton, Christine Collister, Judy Dunlop and Albion Band members Chris and Kellie While, Julie Matthews, Gillie Nichols and Emily Slade .

(This is not to decry his male singers - a list which includes, impressively, Richard Thompson, Iain Matthews, Martin Carthy, Tim Hart, John Kirkpatrick, John Tams, Bill Caddick, Martin Simpson, Doug Morter, Chris Leslie, Phil Beer and, frequently, Simon Nicol .)

This CD , however, focuses on the female voices that have fronted his bands from Fairport Convention to Rainbow Chasers.

This fifth CD is included, as a write-in bonus CD offer, in the initial release of this "Burning Bright" Box-set:   Subsequent to the Box-set release, the "Daughters of Albion" will be receiving a full   Free Reed CD release.
